Two Lavin Speakers Founded Mashable's #1 Social Good Youth Website

Mashable, the web's premiere social media resource, recently named Jennifer Corriero and Michael Furdyk's TakingITGlobal as the world's #1 social good website aimed at youth. TakingITGlobal, started when Corriero and Furdyk were teens, is one of the world’s first social networking sites, founded five years before Facebook. The two co-founders, who have been featured in Fast Company and various other media, originally envisioned the site as linking youth from around the world to solve societal problems, encourage civic engagement, and facilitate global education. Today, the site does just that, boasting over 340,000 members worldwide and partnering with over 22,000 non-profit organizations.

Jennifer Corriero and Michael Furdyk are savvy technology veterans, whose careers mirror the growth—and explosion—of social media, especially as it pertains to social good. Both are masters at harnessing the connective power of new technology and both are in-demand speakers on the transformative ability of the social web in the areas of education, business, and civic awareness. Their implicit message is that the potential for massive change lies in our planet’s youth. All you have to do is tap it.
