Kavita Shukla Honored at Variety’s Power of Women Event for Tackling Global Food Waste
FreshPaper inventor and Lavin speaker Kavita Shukla—named one of TIME Magazine’s “5 Most Innovative Women in Food”—will be honored alongside March for Our Lives’ Emma Gonzalez, Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman, and Emmy Award winners Tiffany Haddish, Regina King, and Lena Waithe at Variety’s Power of Women event in L.A. tomorrow night, a celebration honoring some of the country’s most philanthropic women.
Despite the fact that the world’s farmers harvest enough food to feed the whole planet, over 800 million people go hungry every day—50 million in the US alone are food insecure. We lose over 25% of our world’s food supply to spoilage, resulting in tremendous land, water, energy, and human costs. That’s why Shukla—founder and CEO of The FRESHGLOW Co.—invented FreshPaper, a biodegradable paper that helps food stay fresher, longer. For her incredible passion and dedication to making the world a better place, she’ll be receiving the Inspiration to Action award.
