The Centrist Manifesto By Charles Wheelan Calls For A New Political Party

As best-selling author and public policy expert Charles Wheelan writes in his new book, The Centrist Manifesto, the time has come for a pragmatic Centrist party to identify and embrace the best ideas from both the left and the right to solve the most pressing issues in the United States. As he explains, a Centrist party could hold the power to not only deny a red or blue majority, but would also give power to the nation's most rational voting bloc: the center. In the book—which is forthcoming this April—he lays the groundwork for the possibility of at least 5 Centrist leaders emerging in New England, the Midwest, and elsewhere.

Wheelan is the author of another new book, Naked Statistics, and its popular predecessor, Naked Economics. He also contributes to NPR and writes Yahoo!'s "Naked Economics" column. He is both intelligent and accessible, making the important topics of today relateable and appealing, even to those outside of that particular discipline. He not only makes politics and public policy (which he teaches at the University of Chicago) interesting, but he also provides a road map for how we can improve our political and economic systems, once we finally agree on where they are broken.
