President of the Vancouver Canucks and Former NHL All-Star
Since his retirement, Trevor Linden has entered the business world with the same focus he brought to the ice for 20 years. He's partnered with companies across Canada—like Bell, CIBC and Ernst and Young—to assist in the activation of their business programs. In 2008, Trevor partnered with The Airey Group to pursue his interest in real estate and design projects. Since then, they have jointly developed several quality award-winning properties in the Lower Mainland and Victoria. Linden also created Club 16 Trevor Linden Fitness, which strives to making physical activity fun, non-intimidating and motivating.
Linden's dedication to community endeavors and charitable causes has, and still continues to make Linden one of Canada's most respected athletes. The Trevor Linden Foundation, a registered charity, was established in 1997 in support of youth and children with special needs, and also serves to improve the lives of young Canadians through encouraging and facilitating educational initiatives. In addition to his charitable grants and fundraising initiatives, Linden also supports charities by lending his name and time to public awareness campaigns. He has appeared in several key charity campaigns including; Cops for Cancer, Canuck Place Children's Hospice, Canadian Cancer Society BC & Yukon Preventative Health Campaign, Ronald McDonald House BC, The Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC and the BC Children's Hospital.
Diplomacy and Motivation from the Ice to the Office
Professional, personable and inspirational, Trevor Linden's 20-year hockey career was filled with ups, downs, and lots of lessons learned along the way. On stage, Linden shares his stories, weaving in hard-earned, and highly applicable tips on leadership, and how to take strategies for success from the ice to the business world. Linden shows his audiences that diplomacy and giving back can be exceptional motivators in both our work and personal lives.
Trevor’s motivational stories inspired the entire audience. His messages maintained a balance between individual performance and leadership, both areas where he has a tremendous amount of credibility. We found Trevor to be an exceptionally gifted communicator, delivering genuine messages with a level of sincerity the audience appreciated. A big hit, I would highly recommend him.
City of Coquitlam Staff Leadership Development
Trevor was accommodating and a joy to work with leading up to our event. With such a humble and genuine demeanour, it is not difficult to see why he is one of the most adored and popular sports figures of our generation. Trevor has a natural speaking ability. His keynote on how leadership plays not only into sports but into everyday life was an inspiration to all!
Certified General Accountants Association of British Columbia
Trevor was the keynote speaker at our recent conference and I can say without reservations that he exceeded our expectations. His address was entertaining, uplifting and thoroughly enjoyable. What was perhaps even more impressive however was Trevor’s interactions with the audience before and after his presentation. He was generous with his time and his genuine and affable nature left a great impression with all those who had the opportunity to speak with him. He really connected with people and as an event organizer I could not ask for a more accommodating and engaging speaker.
Vancity/Credential Asset Management
I spoke with Trevor prior to our event to give him a few key insights about our event and about the topics we hoped he could address. We were interested in goal setting, “game-changing” and what it takes to stay competitive and in the game. We were looking for items on leadership and preparation. Not only did Trevor “hit-the-mark,” he nailed it. Trevor received a standing ovation when he entered the room (based on his celebrity), and at the end of his talk after the message he delivered. Great business ideas, great leadership ideas, great motivation, all spoken with a calm sincerity that was fabulous and true to the character of the gentleman delivering it. I would highly recommend Trevor as a keynote to any organization looking for the messages outlined above while energizing their staff for days and weeks to come.
Canada West Ski Areas Association
Trevor Linden was the Keynote Speaker for the CWSAA 2014 Spring Conference. He spoke very well and was able to share his hockey and business experiences in a manner that provided key insights on leadership, teamwork and competition. His presentation was very well received by the audience and he did an excellent job interacting with our members before and after his presentation.
