OLYMPIC FLAG BEARER

Clara Hughes Speaker Profile

Going Out on Top

Clara Hughes caps a spectacular Olympics career with one last medal, her history-making sixth

Canada's flag bearer for the opening ceremonies, Clara Hughes is the most decorated Olympian in Canadian history--an honour she shares with Cindy Klassen. She is also the only person ever to win multiple medals in both the Winter and Summer Games. With nothing left to prove in this, her final Olympics, she skated her way to a Bronze in front of a country that had watched her peerless athletic career take flight over the last two decades. It was a fitting end to an incredible Olympic journey. Hughes is the embodiment of dedication, warmth and passion -- qualities readily apparent in her touching, practical keynotes.

SNOWBOARD CROSS

Maelle Ricker Speaker Profile

An Extra Special Victory: Hometown Gold

Maelle Ricker steps onto the podium at Cypress Mountain

Maelle Ricker, the Gold Medalist in Snowboard Cross at the Vancouver Games, is the new face of Women's Snowboarding in Canada. After suffering a horrific crash in the Snowboard Cross final in Torino and coming shy of a medal in Nagano, Ricker finally fulfilled her dream--and she did it in front of her hometown crowd at Cypress Mountain. Ricker has been a trailblazer for women's snowboarding, competing at both the inaugural Snowboarding Halfpipe event at the Nagano Olympics in 1998 and in the first-ever Snowboard Cross event at Torino in 2006. In her keynotes, she takes us into the new and thriving world of Snowboard Cross to relate timeless lessons about preparation and perseverance.

Hayley Wickenheiser Speaker Profile

With a Third Gold Medal, a Dynasty is Born

Captain Hayley Wickenheiser talks about the importance of leadership

Four-time Olympic medalist Hayley Wickenheiser is regarded as the best female hockey player in the world. But it's not just her lethal slap shot that is respected by her teammates, fans and peers. She is also a community leader, mentor to aspiring athletes, and accomplished businesswoman. As an Olympian, she earned a Silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano and has won a Gold medal in three consecutive Olympics, including at the 2010 Vancouver Games. Wickenheiser has led numerous projects with the goal of raising the profile of women's hockey around the world. As a leader on and off the ice, she works to provide mentoring opportunities for young athletes including her current plan to host an international women's hockey summit in Burnaby, BC immediately following these Games.

BEHIND THE OLYMPICS

Marnie McBean Speaker Profile

Taking Athletes from Potential to the Podium

With all of Canada watching, how did our athletes keep their composure? Three-time Gold medalist Marnie McBean explains.

Marnie McBean is an expert at turning potential into performance. She's one of only a handful of Canadians to win three Gold medals, so she's used to performing under pressure. After a record-breaking rowing career, she is now Manager of Olympic Preparation with the Canadian Olympic Committee. At the 2010 Vancouver Games, she had a vital role as Athlete Mentor. She mentored our athletes -- during the toughest two weeks of their lives -- and made sure they performed at their peak. With a record Gold medal haul for Canada, it's safe to say she delivered beyond expectations.

THE DEAN OF CANADIAN SPORTS BROADCASTING

Brian Williams Speaker Profile

The Voice of the Olympics

Brian Williams has covered 13 Olympic Games, but none as important as this one

Brian Williams has been dubbed "the face of the Olympics for Canadians" and it is not difficult to see why. Since Montreal's 1976 Summer Games, he has covered a total of 13 Games, including the record-setting Vancouver Games. With his unwavering professionalism, reassuring voice and historic insight, these Olympics truly came alive to a record number of Canadian viewers. Williams is now gearing up to anchor the prime-time Olympic coverage for the 2012 Summer Games in London with CTV and TSN. With compelling stories of struggle, success, and even heartbreak, he entertains and educates, drawing enduring lessons from these unforgettable Games.

GAYLE LEMMON at TEDxWOMEN

"If you're going to talk about jobs, then you have to talk about entrepreneurs," says Gayle Tzemach Lemmon. "And if you're talking about entrepreneurs in conflict and post-conflict settings, then you must talk about women." Lemmon is the author of the New York Times bestselling book The Dressmaker of Khair Khana and a Contributing Editor-at-Large for Newsweek and The Daily Beast. She has devoted her life to shedding light on the resiliency of female entrepreneurs, and their remarkable power to reshape local economies. By recognizing and investing in these female breadwinners, Lemmon says, we can help grow economies of all development levels around the world.
