Lowery
Driven by a fierce interest from leaders and star performers alike, achieving performance excellence has become one of the most talked-about, researched, and coached issues of the last decade. And Nick Lowery is its epicenter.
Lowery is the creator and host of Headgames Radio, heard nationwide on Sirius Satelite Radio. The daily program explores all aspects of performance excellence. Through interviews and discussions with renowned experts and practitioners, Lowery offers listeners real insight on how to become the best they can be in their chosen field.

Lowery built a brilliant NFL career out of an ability to achieve his best when it mattered most. A seven-time All-Pro kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, he demonstrated the ability to perform under extreme pressure, game in and game out, in a remarkable career that lasted seventeen seasons and saw him set league records for accuracy and number of field goals. In 1993, he won the NFL Players Association's most prestigious award, the Byron R. "Whizzer" White Humanitarian Award.

Lowery's success only came about through dogged perseverance. Before joining the Chiefs he was cut by eight different NFL teams a total of 11 times. That combination of perseverance and grace under pressure was a winning combination for Lowery. The placekicker, afterall, may be the loneliest position in pro sports—standing on his own, as the fans scream, the defense getting ready to charge, with the game, maybe even the season, resting on his shoulders. During his playing career Lowery's understanding of peak performance was intuitive. Since retiring he has made it a topic of study, and an ongoing passion, to understand the "what" and "why" of peak performance.

A two-time veteran of the Whitehouse Office of National Service (for both Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton), Lowery holds a Master's Degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a degree from Dartmouth. He is the founder of Native Vision and Nation Building for Native Youth, two nationally recognized leadership programs. Lowery is also the Acting Chair of the prestigious new National Fund for Excellence in American Indian Education.

Nick Lowery's presentation explores all aspects of performance excellence—how you can be at your best when it matters most, how you can confront pressure and anxiety and make it work for you, and how you can help your children learn the fundamental lessons of life. Being cut 11 times by eight teams, Lowery had to learn how to take his game to a level never before achieved, making him one of the most accurate and successful field goal kickers in NFL history.

Drawing from his own experience, the latest in scientific research, and the experts from his acclaimed Sirius Radio show, Lowery taps into the unique, and often unprecedented, fusion of mind and body possessed by high achieving individuals. Lowery examines high-performing professional athletes, executives, musicians, doctors, and scientists to provide us a road map to achieve peak performance.
