FRANKEN Al Franken has parlayed his Emmy-award winning work on
Saturday Night Live into a career as one of the countrys
best-known and funniest political satirists, and one of its most in-demand
speakers. Audiences across the country have come to understand that when
Al Franken speaks about politics, the result is enlightening, provocative,
and downright hilarious.
Al Franken was part of the original writing staff
that created SNL. He has received four Emmys for his writing on
the show and a fifth for producing. Today, Franken is perhaps best known
for his political commentary and satire. In 1988, he provided commentary
for CNN at the Democratic National Convention, and in 1992, he anchored
Comedy Central's Indecision '92, winning critical acclaim for his
coverage of both conventions and election night.
He is also the author of Lies (and The Lying Liars Who Tell Them), the New York Times bestseller that made Franken a household name, as well as Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations; Oh, the Things I Know! A Guide to Success, or Failing That, Happiness; and The Truth (With Jokes). Franken currently serves as host of the flagship program from the liberal Air America Radio network. He is also considering running for the United States Senate, as a Democrat, representing Minnesota. What does Al Franken talk about?
