DARYN
JONES
After beating out This Hour Has 22 Minutes for a Gemini with a little-known show called Buzz, and acting as a correspondent for Rick Mercer's Monday Report, Daryn Jones established quite a reputation in a short period of time. Now he can be seen daily, as the host of MTV Canada's flagship show, MTV Live.

Daryn Jones started his comedic career at the age of seventeen, beginning as many comedians do—in front of the hard-to-please crowds in stand-up comedy clubs. In Toronto's clubs he met some fellow comics and together they began shooting interviews on the street that were aired on Rogers Cable in Toronto. That show lasted three years, and turned into Buzz, the cult classic that aired on The Comedy Network.

Daryn Jones's comedic talent is seemingly effortless. Sounding off on politics, dating, his parents and theatre school ("The only acting I learned there was how to act stupid when the student loan officer calls"), he builds an immediate rapport with the audience. Jones starred on and wrote Buzz, and was a writer and an on-air correspondent for Rick Mercer's Monday Report, which focused on Canadian politics, combining news parody, sketch comedy and satirical editorials. When MTV decided to enter the Canadian market in 2006, Jones was one of the first on-air personalities the network brought on. He currently hosts their popular talk and intertview show, MTV Live.
