COLLEEN
JONES Five time winner of the Canadian Women's Curling
Championship and two time World Curling Champion, Colleen Jones knows
what it takes to be a winner - and that's what makes her one of the best
sports reporters Canada has. Meet the woman who knows Canadian championships
from the inside - meet Colleen Jones.
Colleen has interviewed some of the biggest names in
Canadian sports including Wayne Gretzky, speedskater Catriona Le May Doan
and NBA star Steve Nash. Colleen joined CBC-TV in 1986 and moved to CBC
Newsworld in 1995. She has reported from the Summer Olympics in Seoul

New Zealand and Victoria. Being something of a sports legend herself, Colleen knows what to ask our country's heroes. She has won the Nova Scotia curling title 16 times. In 2001, she won the World Curling Championship in Lausanne, Switzerland. In 2004, she took home the World Championship title again. Colleen became a member of the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 1990. What does Colleen talk about?
Secrets of a World Champion
There is no other athlete in the world like a curler.
For six months of the year our country's World Champions are regular people
with regular lives - one day they are working the door at their kids'
hockey games, and the next they are looking at their own picture on the
front of the Globe and Mail. No one knows this kind of double life better
than Colleen Jones. Colleen has won the Canadian Women's Championship
a record number of five times and has long been one of Canada's favourite
CBC-TV sports journalists.
Colleen knows what it takes to make a dream come true better than almost anyone and in this speech, she describes how she has managed to balance a family and not one but two successful careers without ever giving up on her passion for life and her sport. Her wit and humility about her incredible accomplishments make this presentation funny and inspiring. And besides, where else are you going to hear about the impact that Olympic random drug testing has on a suburban neighbourhood? Let Colleen Jones share her secrets for persistence and patience with you. | ||
