BRUCE
MAU Bruce Mau is an internationally recognized expert
on innovation and creativity and one of the world's' greatest designers.
He willfully ignores all professional boundaries, expanding the concept
of design into intellectual territory it rarely dares to tread. Someone
who is applauded for his ambition, humor and optimism, Mau has designed
almost everything that can be designed: from books to bookstores; from
office textiles and library signage to a museum of biodiversity with Frank
Gehry.
Mau has recently embarked on his most challenging
project to date: the Massive Change exhibition. The show is about
nothing less than "the design of the world." The project --
which encompasses a book, a traveling exhibition, a radio show, a website,
and an upcoming feature film -- is just the latest in a long line of multi-disciplinary
works that Mau has collaborated on. Mau's work is recognized all over
the world, and he has worked on three of the new millennium's most talked
about buildings: The MoMA in New York, Frank Gehry's Walt Disney Concert
Hall in Los Angeles and Rem Koolhaas's Seattle Public Library. With Koolhaas,
he co-authored S,M,L,XL,a book that obliterated the traditional
divide between designer and client. He has designed all the titles for
New York's Zone publishers and his own book, Life Style,
was chosen as a TIME magazine design of the year.
What does Bruce Mau talk about?
Massive Change
Now that we can do anything, what will we do? This provocative question is at the heart of Bruce Mau's Massive Change presentation. Drawing on the ideas and images from his acclaimed exhibition of the same name, Mau looks to the future of human civilization, and explores the ways in which design is improving the quality of life for millions of people around the world, and the possibilities that exist to extend this revolution to the entire human race. He begins this presentation with a simple, yet profound proposition: we are now at a point in history where the welfare of all life on the planet is a practical objective. Big, bold, and inspiring, this presentation offers listeners examples of the many positive changes taking place around the world, as well as groundbreaking ideas for new projects to broaden and extend these exciting developments. An Incomplete Manifesto for Growth: Creativity
and Innovation from the Bruce Mau Studio
Bruce Mau's work is acclaimed for its innovation and creativity.
He has become the go-to designer for the world's leading companies
and architects, and helped them to create brands, buildings, and
retail environments that set a new and higher standard for the individual
experience. This is no accident. His studio follows a well-defined
process along the creative path, one that has drawn attention and
admiration from around the world. In this presentation Bruce shares
his approach to creativity and innovation, offering listeners both
practical tools and aspirational ideas that can have an immediate
impact on an organization's creative culture. Great ideas rarely
"just happen". They are developed most often from a well
thought out and disciplined approach, one that Bruce shares in this
entertaining presentation, providing great take-way value for audiences
from virtually any industry or profession. | ||
