Lavin Speaker Reza Aslan Participates in "Walls & Bridges"

Franco-American relations have always been a bit chippy to say the least. The two nations are amongst the most influential in history and share the same sense of bravado and cultural pride, often reacting to one another like two positively charged magnets. Starting today, a yearlong initiative to try and mend the transatlantic intellectual chasm entitled “Walls and Bridges” will begin in New York City and Lavin speaker Reza Aslan is among the American contingent of thinkers.

From The New York Times Arts Beat blog:
On January 27, the first of three 10-day series of debates, readings and performances begin in New York City as part of the initiative, entitled “Walls and Bridges.” Panels will tackle such topics as “The Magical Side of Celebrity,” “The End of Privacy” and “The New Faces of the Enemy.” About 100 brains are involved in the collaboration, including Glenn D. Lowry, the director of the Museum of Modern Art; authors Rick Moody, Daniel Handler, Philip Gourevitch, Reza Aslan, and Fabrice Hadjadj; illustrators Josh Neufeld and Maira Kalman; theater artists Sarah Jones and Cynthia Hopkins; literary critics Cécile Guilbert, Wayne Koestenbaum, and Laura Kipnis; and musicians Salman Ahmad and Alice Jo Rabins.
