Everyday Leadership, The TEDx Talk By Drew Dudley, Passes One Million Views

In his TEDxToronto Talk leadership speaker Drew Dudley told us that true leadership isn't unattainable. Nor do you have to change the world to make people's lives fundamentally better. His message has been received loud and clear, as his talk just passed one million views. Judging by the comments on the TED website, Dudley's definition of leadership as a series of "lollipop moments" has received an overwhelmingly positive response. These "lollipop moments," or everyday actions that make someone's life a little better, often go unnoticed. But as Dudley argues, they are actually an important measure of leadership.

Being a leader, he adds, isn't a title that we have to wait to earn after we've done something "revolutionary." Rather, the little things we do today, and how we pay back the positive things that people do for us, allow us to deem ourselves leaders today. And, we shouldn't feel arrogant or undeserving for labeling ourselves as such. A natural storyteller who weaves together well-timed humor with moving personal anecdotes, Dudley delivers a powerful message with exceptional candor. You don't have to wait until you've changed the world to consider yourself a leader, he says—you just have to strive to act in a way that has a positive impact on your life and the lives of others.
