Drawing on Introverts: Susan Cain Gets the Live Illustration Treatment [VIDEO]
If you enjoyed Susan Cain's TED talk on introverts, you're going to love this new video from the RSA Shorts collection. Drawing on points from Cain's RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) speech, the animated short was drawn by Molly Crabapple. The video breathes new life into Cain's popular material on introversion, and uses quirky animated drawings to explain the roles that both introverts and extroverts play in society. It even features a animal-themed reenactment of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak's inception of the Apple computer. Who can resist a cartoon where the heads of the world's most innovative company are depicted as extroverted dogs and introverted cats?
The RSA is known for promoting groundbreaking ideas on the human condition in new and artistic ways. While their animated "shorts" series is newly launched, they have been offering exciting, free public programmes featuring some of the leading minds of our time—and a few of which are Lavin speakers! Reza Aslan and Steven Pinker join Cain as speakers who have all gotten the RSA Shorts treatment. These speakers fit the mandate of the RSA (and of our agency) as leaders of thought who are working toward creative positive change, as they enlighten and inform audiences with their breakthrough discoveries.
It's no wonder Cain's work was chosen to be represented by the organization, as her book Quiet is a New York Times bestseller and her TED Talk has over 3 million views to date. Her work on human identity has shaken previous notions of what characteristics should be praised—and which should be discouraged—to their core. Whether it's on stage (you can watch her RSA talk here), in her writing or even in animated motion, Cain's work on human interaction hopes to revolutionize the way we work, educate, and choose our leaders.
