Changing the World, Barefoot: TOMS Shoes' One Day Without Shoes 2011
Next Tuesday, April 5, 2011, The Lavin Agency staff will be working barefoot in support of TOMS Shoes’ fantastic initiative, One Day Without Shoes. Last year, over 250,000 participants went barefoot to remind us that, in many developing countries, children must walk without shoes for miles just to get to clean water and medical supplies or attend school. Along the way, they are subject to cuts and infections. Often, children cannot even attend school barefoot. In the video above, TOMS Shoes founder Blake Mycoskie says, “A single idea can make a big difference in the world. When people ask you why you’re not wearing shoes today, share the story and encourage them to think about what their idea can be to change the world.” So, to paraphrase Mycoskie, think about going without shoes next Tuesday — in order to raise awareness for the millions of people who don’t have a choice.
