The Olsen Twins Join Blake Mycoskie, of TOMS, to Give Away Shoes in Honduras

TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie knows how to inspire. Since creating his influential One for One business model—in which TOMS gives a pair of shoes to a child need for every pair it sells—the tireless social entrepreneur has inspired others to take up his cause. Joining Mycoskie for a recent shoe drop were fashion icons Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. In a touching video, shot in Honduras, they talk about what it means to put shoes on young children who need them. Says Mary-Kate: “I think it’s really taught me a little bit more about myself and how I can be more affectionate and loving, and how putting a smile on a kid’s face is—well, there’s nothing like it.”

Having passed a landmark of having sold (and given away) a million pairs of shoes, Mycoskie continues to expand TOMS—venturing recently into One for One eyewear. And on September 6th, Mycoskie will release Start Something That Matters, his first book, which details lessons he’s learned from TOMS, while tracing the way his success has redefined conscious capitalism and social entrepreneurship.

A 21st century success story, Blake Mycoskie is using his for-profit company as a force for good, and he’s sharing his innovative ideas in the hopes of bettering lives around the world. In his keynotes, he tells audiences why companies must include doing good socially into their broader plans to do well financially. These activities aren’t mutually exclusive, Mycoskie reminds us. Just look at TOMS.
